MA Contemporary Arts China
I have started my new academic journey, and have enrolled on this new and inspiring MA at Birmingham City University (BCU). Like all students, young and old apprehension about putting yourself on the line and exposing yourself to a new academic environment can be a little daunting. Finding out you are the only home student and that you will be working alongside young talented Chinese students has also brought its challenges in communication and cultural differences. If I am feeling overwhelmed with the tasks ahead of me, then I can only imagine, what they must be feeling being in a strange country and having to study in a second language.
The first 3 modules of the MA are, Professional Development Planning, Contemporary Arts in China, and Art and Trans-cultural communication. For the purposes of this reflective Blog, I will give labels to each blog page, linking it to each module which may or may not extend across all 3 units. Each blog will also be given a sub title, relating to session number of each unit, providing a chronological time-line.
My plan is to reflect weekly on my learning and development, mapping my journey and consolidating my thoughts in a structured way to support any future decision making about my career in the art world.
